FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Click the clipboard icon in your menu bar to open the Recopy panel. You can also press Cmd+Shift+V from any app to instantly access your clipboard history.
Recopy uses Accessibility permission to simulate Cmd+V paste into the frontmost app when you select an item from your history. Without it, items are copied to your clipboard but won't auto-paste. Grant it in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility.
Recopy captures plain text, rich text, HTML, URLs, images (PNG, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, WebP, HEIC), PDFs, file references, code snippets, colors, and spreadsheet data (CSV/TSV). Video files are intentionally excluded to keep your history lightweight.
All data is stored locally on your Mac at ~/Library/Application Support/Recopy/. Nothing ever leaves your device — no cloud, no analytics, no tracking.
You can delete individual items by selecting them and pressing the delete key. To clear all history, remove the folder at ~/Library/Application Support/Recopy/ and relaunch the app.
Yes. Open Recopy, go to Settings > Shortcut tab, and click the shortcut recorder to set your preferred key combination.
Storage depends on your usage. By default, Recopy retains 365 days of history with a cap of 50,000 items. Images and PDFs use more space than text. You can adjust retention and limits in Settings.
No — and that's by design. Recopy is 100% local to keep your clipboard data private. Your history never leaves your Mac.
First, make sure Recopy is running (look for the clipboard icon in your menu bar). Then check that Accessibility permission is granted in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility. Verify the content type is enabled in Settings. If the issue persists, restart the app and check the debug log at /tmp/recopy-debug.log.
Recopy offers a free version with core clipboard history features. A Pro upgrade is available for power users who want extended history, advanced search, and additional customization options.
